About Us
We are a small general practice of Solicitors operating from Tilehouse Street in the historic market town of Hitchin in Hertfordshire.
The firm was founded in 1977 by Mr J A Williams, who passed away in 2003, initially to operate an international consultancy practice based on his prior experience in many parts of the world. During the 1980’s, the Ross Williams Solicitors operated two offices, one in Hitchin and one in London. However, in 1987 Mr Williams decided to concentrate his attention on the practice operating in Hitchin, which continued to expand with local, national and international clients.
We are extremely proud to announce the merger with Neves & Dyer Solicitors of Hitchin in June 2017. We welcome Alison Wright and Stephen Dyer to the Ross Williams Family. They bring with a wealth of general and local experience and knowledge.
COVID-19 Update
We are committed to remaining open, but the safety of our staff and clients must be paramount. All Fee Earners and most staff will have remote access to our computer system during any closure. We will be able to continue to communicate via email and now have access to answer the telephone to take messages that will be passed on to Fee Earners. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience that this may cause.
We would like to reassure our clients that it is business as usual at Ross Williams Solicitors. Our staff currently continue to work as normal, however we are not receiving clients at our office. We are preparing for all eventualities and keeping the situation under constant review.
The wellbeing of our staff and clients remains our priority and we have put in place reasonable and proportionate arrangements to protect our colleagues and clients. These include:-
- Clients are advised not to attend our offices in any circumstance. Instead, we will arrange telephone consultation. If original documents need to be delivered they can be posted through our door.
- Home visits will only be made if urgent and assessed on a case by case basis
- New client consultation will be via a telephone consultation

- if they have been in contact with anyone who has tested positive for coronavirus
- if they are displaying any of the symptoms associated with coronavirus – fever, cough, shortness of breath
- Business meetings will be conducted via telephone if possible
- We are allowing staff to work from home
